Use each database's thesaurus or subject headings list to identify the best wording for your topic. For example, the ERIC (Education) thesaurus uses:

Adolescent Literature (NOT "young adult literature")
Childrens Literature, and Picture Books (NOT "children's literature" or "chapter books" or "easy readers")
Early Childhood Education, and Preschool Education, as well as Nursery Schools
