The Education Library on the 5th floor of Paterno Library at University Park contains Penn State's largest collection of children's materials, as well as items to support professional development and scholarly study. It is organized differently than juvenile collections at other campus libraries.
In the Education Library, children's fiction (normally call number PZ7 in other libraries) has been divided into two categories: the Picture Book section and the Education Juvenile Fiction section. Also, folklore, mythology, and poetry are in the nonfiction area because they are "not fiction"!
- Picture Books: arranged alphabetically according to the author’s last name
- Education Juvenile Fiction: includes easy readers, chapter books, and young adult fiction, arranged Alphabetically according to the author’s last name
Some popular areas and call numbers within the Education Library include:
- Folklore, Fairytales, Fables, Mother Goose, and Nursery Rhymes: PZ8,A through PZ8.4
- Mythology: BL
- Graphic Novels for younger children: PZ7.7
- Graphic Novels for older children: PN6727
