RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based citation management tool that is free to Penn State users.

Overview

RefWorks home screenNote: Penn State does not have a subscription to the full RefWorks, so some features will not be available to Penn State users.

To create a new RefWorks account:

  • Go to LionSearch and click on the menu button on the top right
  • Select "RefWorks Log In" from the drop-down menu
  • On the RefWorks login page, click the bottom link: No account? Sign up here
  • Enter your Penn State email, then enter a password and click Sign Up

RefWorks is a web-based citation management tool. A 'lite' version is free to Penn State users as part of LionSearch.

Use RefWorks to:

  • easily import citations and articles
    • 2GB of storage
    • keep your account when you graduate
  • share readings and collaborate with up to 10 people
  • read, highlight, and annotate documents
  • generate bibliographies automatically using APA, MLA and other common citation styles
  • cite documents from your library and change citation styles with the touch of a button with the Google Docs add-on.

Get Started

RefWorks login

  • In LionSearch, click on the menu button in the upper right corner to reach RefWorks Log In
  • On the RefWorks login page, click the bottom link: No account? Sign Up here
  • Enter your Penn State email, then enter a password and click Sign Up. You will need to go to your email to verify the account
  • RefWorks is entirely web-based, so once your account is set up you can log in from any computer
  • Once your account is created, you can access it from LionSearch or at refworks.proquest.com
