The DoT Public Access Policy has been in effect since December 31, 2015:
- Fully covers published outputs
- Fully covers data
- Requires all research proposals to include a Data Management Plan (DMP).
DoT requires all funded-researchers to:
- Submit electronic version of final peer-reviewed manuscripts to the agency’s National Transportation Library (NTL) digital repository and make them publicly available no later than 12 months following publication.
- Deposit digital data sets resulting from DoT- funded scientific research in a publicly accessible repository.
DoT allows the inclusion of appropriate costs; for data management and access in proposals for federal funding for scientific research.
