Finding Language Materials in the Catalog

Strategies and tips for searching the Catalog to find language materials:

  • Use the Subject search box
  • Limit by Format, such as Audio or Video
  • Use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase, e.g. "french language"

Search for the language name (e.g. French language) plus one of the following terms. Use quotation marks around phrases.

  • self-instruction, e.g. "french language" self-instruction
  • study and teaching, e.g. "french language" "study and teaching"
  • conversation and phrasebooks, e.g., "french language" "conversation and phrasebooks"

To find foreign language dictionaries search for:
"language name" dictionaries english, e.g. "hungarian language" dictionaries english
