Below are some basic research tips.
EPC/ENVE Search Tips
In Compendex and other databases, start with the "thesaurus" under the "search" link to explore recommended wording for your search. For instance, the accepted terminology is not "engineering management" but simply "management."
For example, along with "air pollution," "soil pollution," and "water pollution," Compendex's thesaurus recommends:
Hazardous materials spills
... and other phrases.
In addition, some law/public policy databases allow you to search by jurisdiction or other criteria. Check a database's "Advanced Search" to see if it allows you to search by:
Jurisdiction (state, country, continent, etc.)
Political leaning (left/liberal, centrist, right/conservative, etc.)
Type of document (journal article, government document, report, etc.)
Open Educational Resources for Engineers
The American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE) Engineering Libraries Division (ELD) recently created a wonderful guide for Open Educational Resources (OER) for a wide variety of engineering disciplines. If you are looking for additional resources, free of cost and openly available, please review ASEE's ELD resource page at this link.
