Student Athlete Research Guide - Beaver Campus

Welcome

Hi everyone! My name is Frankie Checchio, I am a reference and Instruction Librarian at Penn State Beaver, and I will be working with a lot of you as the student athlete academic liaison. As a former collegiate athlete, I understand first hand how easy it can be to get caught up in your busy schedules that you can fail to recognize/utilize all the resources that you have at your disposal, like the library. I created this research guide with the intent of connecting student athletes with the some of the vast resources and services that the library provides. My goal is to help you all gain familiarity, so that when the time comes to do research you are not faced with the additional pressure of learning how to use the library.

From this guide you should learn:

- The resources you can use for your research

- The difference between scholarly and primary resources

- How to cite your sources

- How to avoid plagiarism

- General tips that can help you as a student athlete

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We want to help you succeed at PSU!
