PowerPoint Presentations

Due February 27, 2018

General Directions:

  • Find journal articles and studies on the cultural aspects of the specific country you have chosen and identify at least 5 cultural aspects.
  • Create a PowerPoint Presentation.
  • Learn and troubleshoot PowerPoint creation using Lynda.com (see box below)

Specific PowerPoint Directions:

  1. Home tab
  • Create one title slide
  • Create four other slides to creatively present the cultural aspects you identified
    • Use features from #2, #3, #4, and #5 below
    • Include “in text” APA citations where information and images are presented
  • Create one works cited slide titled References
    • Include full APA citations
  1. Insert tab
  • Insert at least 2 Online Pictures of your choice
  • Insert at least 1 SmartArt of your choice
  1. Design tab
  • Create any type of Theme
  1. Transitions tab
  • Apply any type of Transition such as Dissolve, Fade, etc.
  1. View tab
  • Apply Notes Page and enter notes of “what you would say” during your presentation
  1. File tab
  • Print a draft of your slides as a handout using 6 Slides Horizontal and bring to our second class session on February 27 to share with class members during our Think/Pair/Share discussion.

Canvas Dropbox:

  • After our Think/Pair/Share discussion, make final edits on your slides and upload your PowerPoint Presentation for credit by March 6. (The Dropbox will be open after class has met on February 27.)

As an enrolled Penn State student you have free access to LinkedIn Learning where you can learn how to use PowerPoint and much more!

How to prepare for your PowerPoint Presentation:

  • Click on LinkedIn Learning (below)
  • Login with your Penn State user ID and password
  • Search for PowerPoint 2016 Essential Training** in the search box
  • Browse the series of video tutorials (over 3 hours of material!)
  • Target what you need to know
  • Experiment with something fun

**HINT!

You may need to explore other training tutorials if you are using a MAC, Office 365, PowerPoint 2010, etc.  If so...

  • Click the drop down "Browse" menu and select PowerPoint
  • Browse available tutorials and select the one that matches your needs
