Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use tool that helps you collect, manage, cite, and share your research sources

Organize your library


  • Click the yellow folder icon in the left panel to create and name collections
  • Items can be assigned to multiple collections, without duplicating the item
  • Drag and drop files from the center pane into any collection
  • New items are automatically saved into the selected collection

Other features:

  • Add tags and notes to references using the tabs in the right-hand pane
  • Search for items in your library using the search box at the top-right of the center column
  • Remove duplicates by clicking Duplicate Items and selecting references you want to delete
  • Edit any incorrect information in a reference by clicking in the appropriate field in the right-hand pane and making the changes
  • Remove items by dragging them to the Trash icon in the left pane, or right-click on the item and select Move Item to Trash
