About the Courts

The federal courts in Pennsylvania are NOT part of the Pennsylvania judiciary and only adjudicate federal issues.  They are included here for the convenience of our users.   In addition to Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit covers federal cases in New Jersey, Deleware, and the Virgin Islands.

Federal Appeals Courts

U.S. District Courts

The district courts are fhe federal trial courts and deal with both civil and criminal matters.

Federal Bankruptcy Courts

All bankruptcies must be filed in federal courts.
