Historic Newspapers

It is important to note that many historic newspapers are not available online.  The U.S. Newspaper Directory at the Library of Congress contains a listing of every known location of print or microfilm newspaper in the country. For example, currently, the Valley Gazette (Lansford, PA) may be available at the Dimmick Public Library in Jim Thorpe, the Schuylkill Historical Society, and the Pennsylvania State Library in Harrisburg.  The list below identifies regional newspapers that have been digitized and are available online.  It does not include websites for current newspapers, which may have their own archives dating back many years.
