You don't have to use the Penn State library to find things to read, but we do have a lot to choose from... and they're free! Search for titles at libraries across Penn State in our catalog, or limit your search to just Penn State Abington.
How to Borrow Books from Penn State Libraries
- Library Card - Your PSU ID is your library card. Bring the book and your card to the library front desk to check it out.
- Loan Period - Loan periods for vary. Most books can be borrowed for the whole summer semester (due 9/3/2025), but some of our collections (New Bestsellers, Discovery Zone) have 4 week loan periods, and museum passes circulate for 5 days. To see what you have checked out, view due dates, and renew items, visit your library account at any time.
- Books at Other PSU Campuses - You can borrow books from any PSU campus. If it's not at Abington, just click on "I Want It" to have it shipped to Abington or ask at the library for help.
Tips for Finding Books
- Search the catalog by title, author, or keyword/topic.
- Audiobooks: add keyword "audiobooks" to your search

What if Penn State doesn't have the book I want?
We'll borrow it from another library for you if you want! Simply fill out an Interlibrary Loan book request, and we'll email you when it has arrived. Your wait may be about one week, but requests often arrive sooner.
