Athleen Stere was a Harvard Graduate and received her Ph.D from Penn State University. She taught at Penn State Altoona from 1971 to 2012 till the age of 91. Athleen passed away on April 1st, 2018 at the age of 97.

The video is a brief history on the Edith Davis Eve Memorial Chapel. The first interdenominational chapel on a commonwealth campus. Built in 1969 to 1970 this chapel as become a hallmark of the Penn State Altoona Campus.
Mary E. Hawthorne PSU Altoona World War II Letter Collection
Dr. Mary E. Hawthorne graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1937 with a Biology degree, earn her master's in Biology from Penn State in 1940, and then become a faculty member of Penn State in 1940. She would go on to serve in the WAVES program in the class of 1944. There she helped create the first Physician's Assistant Program. She would earn her PhD in Botany from Michigan State University in 1951. She was recalled to active service during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1971.

Gives a background on the first director of Penn State Altoona which was called the Altoona Undergraduate Center established in 1939. This video showcases Dr. Eiche's World War II Letter Collection where he corresponded with scores of service men and women who attended the university.
Founder of the Penn State Altoona Campus - J.E. Holtzinger
John Edward (known as J.E. and Ted) Holtzinger was born the grandson of Altoona Mirror founder, Harry E. Slep.
Ted was born in 1903 and went to Penn State to major in Journalism and minor in Business and Animal Husbandry. He would became a successful banker but decided to be a reporter for the Altoona Mirror in 1932. In 1941 he was the Director of the Mirror.

This is the first interview in the Penn State Altoona Oral History Project. C. David Kimmel is an integral part of building the Altoona Campus. He started his career as a student at Penn State Altoona in 1958. Dave took classes in the old Bathhouse and was the first class to have classes in the E. Raymond Smith Building (Penn State Altoona's first permanent building).
Kimmel worked closely with the first director of the campus, Robert E. Eiche, who held that role from 1939 to 1968. He also worked with Robert L. Smith, the very first Penn State Altoona employee, and Steven Adler.

C. Dave Kimmel's first job out of college was as Assistant Director for Development. Robert E. Eiche asked him personally to take the position because of his work as an undergraduate while at Penn State Altoona.
Kimmel would go on to work alongside the likes of Ted Holtzinger, Robert E. Eiche, Bob Smith, Steven Adler, and Jack Zubrod. He talks of the expansion of the Penn State Altoona and how the campus changed from 1958 to 1978.
Oral History Project - Dr. Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry | Penn State Altoona
Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry first came to Penn State Altoona in 1985 when she was working on her Ph.D. Originally from Martinsburg, Pa., she had never been to Penn State Altoona until she arrived to teach and fell in love with the campus immediately. In 1997, Bechtel-Wherry was one of the inaugural division heads when Penn State Altoona became a four-year, degree-granting institution. She later served as associate dean for academic affairs, before being named Chancellor and Dean in 2005.
