World Toilet Day (Greater Allegheny)

A guide to resources on UN World Toilet Day, the state of global sanitation, and the environmental and societal consequences of lack of access to proper waste-disposal facilities.

World Toilet Day

Since its establishment by the World Toilet Organization in 2001, World Toilet Day (WTD) is observed annually on November 19. An official UN international day since 2013, WTD is about taking action to reach the estimated 2.4 billion people still living without a functioning toilet. The theme of WTD 2016 is "Toilets and Jobs,", focusing on how basic sanitation, or a lack thereof, can affect people's employment prospects and ability to earn a living wage.
