Patent documents and technical reports provide operative information about specific devices, innovations and processes, often in detail and with useful data.  Think of these materials as offering information about taking an idea and reducing it to practice, or providing proof of concept that an idea can be made functional.

Standards provide guidelines and requirements for materials, processes and products to ensure that they are consistent  with safety and compatibility with products with which they are to interact.

Maker Commons 

The Maker Commons provides an open access 3D printing service that allows any member of the Penn State community at any campus to print on-demand.

Other services include rapid prototyping of electronic devices via the Invention Studio with an assortment of littleBits, Lego and other Internet of Things technology; a free 3D library, and various tutorials.
