Welcome to the library guide for ENGL 15 & 30 students at Penn State Berks!

Tools for Brainstorming a Topic

two students at Perkins Plaza, one asks "what are you curious about?"

Topic Spark Questions

  • Read the assignment's guidelines for topics first.
  • Bounce your ideas off the professor and friends/classmates.
  • Answering some of these questions can help you brainstorm:
    •  What is your major?
    • What are your hobbies?
    • What has caught your attention in the news?
    • What are you curious about?

**Selecting a topic that you want to learn more about makes the research process much more fun and interesting!!

And phrase your topic as a question to help focus your search.
